It seems that whoever I told that I was going to this conference,
nobody believed my professional resolve. I mean lets face it. Going to
Hawaii to a multimedia conference? Now just to show how serious I was about
all of this, I came a week early to climatize myself. This only raised
people's suspicions even more. A colleague of my wife's at the college
where whe teaches remarked in his rich Irish brogue, "That's a crock
a _______." You see what I mean.
Nevertheless, I spent a week before the conference camped out on a beach
near the Na Pali Cliffs. Lots of Rasta folks, an unexpected Earthday Celebration
and lots of mental, spiritual and physical preparation. But it was worth
it. When I arrived at the conference, I was climatized and fully prepared.
I would highly recommend this to anyone and at $3 a night, what a great
deal to camp on the beach. And the conference, oh yeah the conference.
Just to help convince any doubters back home that this confence was serious
and not one of those south pacific fun-in-the sun scams, the conference
folks - in their greater wisdom - chose Peter Bergman as the Keynote speaker.
I pity anyone trying to follow him as presenter. When I mentioned this
to Peter last night, his response was " OF COURSE, THAT WAS A PERFORMANCE!"
Now do you see what I mean?
Oh, yeah, the conference. It's great. The people. The food. The speakers.
The staff. I would highly recommend it. I don't care how much people
back home in the rain soaked Pacific Northwest can't appreciate the professional
resolve it took to come to the south pacific to learn more about multimedia
I'm a multimedia professional and I was properly climatized! Now I'm
ready for Storytelling For The First Cool Million.
